Oh My!

You will notice Ruthie in the tub. Today was not a normal bath, it was more of an emergency dunking.

Ruthie Today
Ruthie at Thanksgiving
I wanted to show how much she has grown in the past month, so I took some pictures of Ruthie dozing in her swing to compare with an older picture. I then began to upload them on the computer. That is when Ruthie started to fuss and cry. She was uncomfortable and wanted out of her swing. I moved her blanket to pick her up and discovered the reason for her discomfort. She had her biggest blow out to date. She actually leaked up the front of her onsie rather than the back. She leaked through to the blankets below her and on the edges of her pants, but mostly on her stomach and her arms where they lay on her tummy. It was a challenge to get the onsie off of her without making the mess worse.

So I am left wondering: Do I try to clean this onsie or just throw it out?

A Sleepy Smile

We were talking about grandparents and this happened.

Coincidence? I think not.

Ruthie says...

I am 10 weeks old!

Three things about me:
1. I am starting to outgrow my newborn clothes.
2. Occasionally I will laugh in my sleep.
3. Sometimes I smile on purpose...but only at Daddy.

Ruthie speaks quite seriously...

Hello.
I am very cute. I know it - you know it. Here are a few examples of my cuteness.

Now, just because we both know how cute I am doesn't mean you don't need to post a comment (you know who you are). I like your comments. Christmas is coming and, let's face it, I will probably get even more cute, so comment away.

Christmas Ornaments

I am an sure there are things that make Christmas Christmas for each of you. You have some tradition that marks the season. For me it is not decorating or maligning gingerbread houses. My Christmas is kept in a very special box that has been missing for almost two years. Every Christmas my grandmother makes a Christmas ornament for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. I have every one she has ever made me beginning at Christmas 1981. When it is time to decorate the tree I pull out all the ornaments and lay them out in the order I received them (first by trying to guess, then by checking their tags). Every year the most exciting gift is not found under the tree or in a stoking. Instead it is a small lovingly made ornament that comes about a week before Christmas and has a simple tag the reads "To Sonnet, From Grandma." Unfortunately, last Christmas we realized that my box had gone missing. It didn't come to Arizona with Christian and I, and Mom couldn't find in among the Christmas things in California.  The only thing we know for sure was that they had been packed away after Christmas 2009. Last week my mom sent us a Christmas package. In it, among other things, was a very special box found in an attic-crawl space at my parents house. My ornaments were back. I was ecstatic.

These are some of my special ornaments. Though not ornate or expensive, they are priceless to me.

Ruthie says...

I am 9 weeks old!
Three things about me:
1. I am wearing size 1 diapers
2. I weigh 9 lbs and 3 oz
3. I have a birthmark on one of my toes

Ruthie says...

Three reason I don't like to get shots:
1. They hurt
2. They make me very sleepy
3. I get grumpy if you try to wake me up... so leave me ALONE!

Mommy says...
Ruthie got her two month shots yesterday. She handled the first one well with a short whining protest. The second shot was a different story. She scream-yelled in one big breath that turned her whole face red. When she ran out of air she just froze with her mouth open, eyes shut, face lobster red, and body absolutely still. It was at least a slow count to eight before she started to breath, move, and cry again. She cried through the next shot but soon calmed down once it was over and I could pick her up. She spent most of the rest of the day and night sleeping. She slept through two of her normal meal times (not consecutive) and would cry if she was woken up and then immediately fall back asleep. Today she was much more awake but ran a low grade fever for much of the afternoon and was a bit more clingy than normal. As the evening has come she is much more herself. I  am glad that shots are over for now, though I dread it when they will come around again.

Story Time With Daddy

I can see it now
"Daddy, will you read me a story?"
"Of course. What book would you like me to read? Lets look on the shelf. There is Danny and the Dinosaur, The Little Engine That Could, The Giving Tree, You are Special.... oh, here is a good one: The Manual of Freediving."
"Yes, that one!"

I know it doesn't matter what you read to babies, but it was funny to see Christian reading this big book to Ruthie. She was happy and Christian was enjoying himself, so that is all that matters.

Christmas Decorations

We have almost finished putting up Christmas decorations. All that is left is for Christian to set up the Lego train around the tree. It is nice to have Christmas all around us. Rutnie loves to look at the lights on the tree. If you sit or stand anywhere near the tree her head will swivel towards the lights. We look forward to her first Christmas and our first Christmas at home as a family.

Cute as a Button

Our Ruthie is so cute, but where does all that adorableness come from? I thought it would be fun to compare Christian and my baby pictures to Ruthie to see if there were any similarities.

Let me know if you reached the same conclusion as I did.

"Wow, look at that. Christian and Ruthie
could be twins!"
