Ruthie has gotten really good at sitting. Over the past months she has gotten lots of practice by sitting in a towel lined laundry basket. She loves sitting in this basket, and it works great for me. The basket is one of those small round ones so she can't really fall over. She has moved from leaning back on it to sitting quite independently in the middle. We keep the basket upstairs and it has a couple toys that she doesn't play with every day. That way the whole basket experience is like band new fun each time she sits in it. When I am vacuuming upstairs or taking a shower she plays quite happily in this basket.

Ruthie has not been a roller. Up until her six month check up she had rolled only twice front-to-back and once back-to-front. It was worrying me a bit, but her doctor said that she was just perfect on all her other physical markers and because she was four weeks early she might just be delaying a bit in this area. However this last week and a half Ruthie has become a roller. She is getting pretty good at rolling off her stomach when she is done with tummy time (which for her is about one minute after beginning tummy time). Occasionally she gets really mad about being on her stomach and forgets that she knows how to roll. Funnily enough one time she was crying and throwing a fit about tummy time until she wore herself out and fell asleep. When she woke up about 20 minutes later she grabbed one of her toys and rolled over.

The basket thing is a great idea!!! Dang I wish I had thought of that.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think of it myself. Our friends the Millets told us about it when she was about three months old. Genius idea!
ReplyDeleteDarling picture in and out of the basket. Will you send them to me. I might want to use them. She is getting so big.
